    Hello JDS,

Looking at your thread here, it appears that your P8H61-M-Pro (Rev 3) doesn't support Secure Boot. That doesn't mean that you are not able to install Windows 8 with UEFI though.

    Sorry.

Do you have the latest 4702 BIOS version flashed? It may help with the other issue. Be sure that your motherboard is the (Rev 3) version of that model first though.

You don't want to flash your BIOS unless it's specifically for your motherboard model and revision number. If you are not sure, then DON'T do it. One mistake could turn your motherboard into a paperweight.

O.K. yes i know this, you asked about bios 4702 which i tried a ROM bios, which gave me the error "image integrity check failed" ASUS as said told me to use 0704 CAP bios, was for my model asus CM6730.I can not make sense of a BIOS that says UEFI,but is unable to use it.Some UEFI's do,some don't for Win8.

The .cap file is normally the name for an ASUS bios file. It is explained on the site as to how to flash a bios. I have done it many times and it seems fairly safe with the newer bioses that can be recovered. Not sure about yours, but before you try, you might check to see if you understand any bios recovery process in case of a failure.

The way you would update a bios on my system would be to make the file available, say on a flash drive, and boot into the Bios setup and go to the tools section. It should give you the option to use one of the tools, which will reboot and ask for the location of the bios file. This should all be explained in your owner's manual.

The manual for that system does refer to an internet bios update process. I might even download the manual for the motherboard itself to check what procedures you can use for it.

But, as Brink mentions, there are always dangers. If you do have a recovery option if something goes wrong, that might make the decision easier.

ASUS has a community for Motherboards and some other products. You might check that and ask about the update if you are not certain.

.CAP needs a BIOS converted,i can not see where to get one, without it it is not recognized in bios utility.Only way i know to flash a bios is copy to a flash drive and use EZ UTILITY in the bios screen.Manual i have it this is the way they show it.For that ASUS FORUM,has not been much help for me some topics pretty outdated and issues i had with image integrity check failed, they believe in forum asus has issues with newer bios's that not being resolved.Alot get same error i got.Even saw through google searches.

I use .cap files for my updates. The first part of the file does have to be renamed on my system for my specific motherboard configuration. So a file like P8Z77-V-Pro-ASUS-2104.CAP becomes Z77VP.CAP but if that is necessary, it should have some procedure for renaming.

I did not notice, do you know what bios version you currently have? If not, msinfo32.exe will show you, or the Bios setup page.

Edit: I did download a Bios Re-namer to use with the Bios FlashBack utility and the attachment is what I got.

    Bios

My version BIOS is American Megatrends inc. 4101, 9/4/2012 i tried a bios renamer from ASUS site no success same error,"image integrity check failed" when trying to flash in utitlity in BIOS.Does this matter that my system now is using a ROM Bios now instead?
Alot risk involved in this as most say,if it is not going to give me UEFI install with secure boot in Win8,then chances i ain't gonna flash a bios and as said make it a paper weight.
