I am requesting mod help as I have the older BIOS not he newer UEFI. You are not permanently changing the boot order just one time. if the security will not allow for that, I hope a skilled user will help you. I will also do some research.

With the old BIOS you just restart the pc with the rescue disc in, tapping F12 and when the boot screen comes up, use the arrow keys to navigate to the cd/dvd you want. Then click enter when you have the one you want and Macrium should come up.

I hope I did not get either of us in trouble asking for more skilled help than me but there are great guys here who could jump in with this feature and help you.

Have patience and don't jump around.

    vidio utube

    Good morning Peter2
Just finished watching the video and I also read the same on HP site where I searched for Ackee they make my MB and Bios. I have done the disable secure boot and enable Legacy boot options and the big thing with secure boot it was to protect your pc from malware. I will subscribe to the one in the link and that way I can ask questions if I get
    lost.
As of this morning I cannot do an image of all drives without getting that blank clusters found while running cluster run. I have filed a support request. not sure what has changed since creating my first image.
    back to the video.

you cannot get into trouble while learning. I was escalated to higher authority by what I was getting in help on the HP forum board. a monitor there saw my situation and next I knew I was getting private msgs. an then posts from a dept. that is trying to help me.
some of the chats I experienced were not the best help I guess.

    Windows 8.1 upgrade

    Hi theog
under secure boot you cannot do an image restore as it locks out cd/dvd.
I am using Macrium to create image files. I have been viewing a video about windows 8 and the new ways to change the boot order and the first part is to disable secure boot and enable legacy boot options.

so far I have solved the problem I was having creating image files. now can do them successfully.
the biggest thing I have read so far on secure boot is that it could protect you from malware.

Windows 8 imaging will restore image with ENABLE Secure Boot & UEFI.

I would look for a 3rd party Backup & Cloning software, which fully supports Windows 8, uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot.
    Which is signed by Microsoft.

Maybe this is where you can help me. The old way to recover an image whether Macrium or not was to tap F12 and set the boot order.

With Win 8 machines you use UFEI instead of the BIOS.

How can you go about this? Did the video give you all you need?

I think you go somewhere and enable legacy but do not know where. Then you do something else so you can set the boot order. I don't know if it is temporary or permanent . Do you have to reverse this when done?
I do not have a Win 8 machine so am at a loss but would like to know what I am getting into as I will be getting one.
It would be nice if someone could list the steps to access your first Macrium image, secondly recover from the rescue disc, then reset whatever needs resetting.

Peter2 I first watched the video three or four times and he talked about going in and first disabling secure boot.
    then enable legacy boot.
f10 then save and exit then when you go back in it shows legacy boot and everything you can rearrange under it.
I found atapi cd/dvd and it appeared in the right place but didn't work
I sent an e-mail to the guy in the video and he confirmed everything that I did and that this change would be permanent unless I wanted to change it back.
right now he is probably reading my reply and perhaps he can tell me why F10 did not save the changes.
now with the way things are configured you cannot use F12 it comes up with some internet service if you want to connect.
