    Developer Preview installation freezes

Here is what I try to do to install Windows:
Procedure Copying Windows Files Expanding Windows Files Installing Features Installing Updates Finishing installation Total Percentage
    1 52% 0% 0% 0% 0% 10%
    2 ? ? ? ? ? 52%
    3 100% 48% 0% 0% 0% 29%

    1: Run "D:\sources\setup.exe" via Windows 7
    2: Run "D:\setup.exe" or "D:\sources\installprep.exe" via Windows 7
    3: Run "D:\sources\setup.exe" via BIOS

Any idea on how to fix this?

Microsoft Windows Developer Preview 6.2.8102 (I think)

How does your disk look when you try to install. Post a snip of Disk Management. Maybe we can determine the cause of your problems.

I had Android Skin Pack for Windows 7 installed; I had to type in "Disk Management".

That is a pretty straight forward setup. But there is stuff on W - probably from the failed installation attempts. I would delete W and then redefine it to start with a clean slate. Then try again. No reason why it should not work - at least from the disk setup side.

PS: The PM you sent me was all scrambled. Looked like you had the Num key on.

what exactly are you trying to do? Running an install from Windows 7 would over write it and trying to write to your recovery partition is doomed to failure. Do you want to dual boot? or just install WDP on its own?
PS uploading snips that have not been edited would be, for me,more helpful

I assume that my setup disc is damaged-I've tried each one at least two times, if not more, and they leave the same result... Should I re-burn the disc?
    (disc=disk)

I used numbers to make it look silly. I apologise.

For 1, I ran the file that is run when you boot from the disc via the BIOS. But instead of executing it from the BIOS, I ran it from Microsoft Windows NT 6.1 with the Windows on Windows x64 pack pre-installed. Duh.
For 2, I ran it as if I had used AutoPlay, via Microsoft Windows NT 6.1 with the Windows on Windows x64 pack pre-installed.
For 3, I ran the setup disc from the BIOS.

    "C:\" is Windows 7.
"W:\" is the Windows Developer Preview partition. This partition has every required file except boot files.
The non-named one is Acer eRecovery Restore mode. It still works, despite me backing it up to my apparently Samsung USB 2.0 Iomega 2TB HDD, then wiping my Hitachi internal drive THEN restoring the restoration drive. Get it now?

If you think your install medium is the problem it would probably be best to download WDP new and burn it again; https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...oad.html?ltr=W

    https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...eview-iso.html

Then for the install; Clean Install - Windows 8
or; Dual Boot Installation - Windows 8 and Windows 7 or Vista

If you still have problems let us know

Try a stick - maybe your optical drive has problems.

I would redownload the WDP and extract to C: (z-zip is a cool tool for this). then execute the setup.exe in Sources. Selectng W: as the partition to install it on.

Why dont you try it on a VM just to have sure that your ISO or disk is OK ?
