    0xC000000D (Unreadable Boot Config) error

I have the flash drive made properly, but whenever I try to boot it, I get a 0xC000000D (Unreadable Boot Config) error.

The system is a brand new ASUS F55C with 8GB ram and a 120GB Samsung 840 SSD.

I get the same error when I try on other F55C's I have...

I don't usually need to downgrade, but my client will not use 8 so I'm stuck.

I've tried everything I can think of and my Googleing has returned nothing. This is the first time I've been stumped by a computer in years...

Yeah, it just freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen. Right after all four pieces assemble.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, it's a holiday weekend

I just though about trying to start WinPE in safe mode, see if that would make a difference. I'll be back at work tomorrow morning to try then.

Not sure what is going on, but is the Flash drive a Windows 8 drive booting in UEFI mode? The place you describe is right about the time the Windows 8 secure boot might be involved.

It's 7 64-bit, secure boot is disabled in the bios.

If you disabled Secure Boot, did you also enable the CSM (Compatibility Support Module).. This is usually necessary to boot Windows 7.

If you are attempting to boot Windows 7 in UEFI mode, on the flash drive, did you do the step of adding a Boot folder and Bootx64.efi file to it?

Have you tested the flash drive on a Windows 7 system to make sure it works.
