Hi all, I'm hoping you can help...

I have a Samsung np300e5a-a01dx

I'm trying to upgrade from windows 7 premium to windows 8 Pro

I've tried repeatedly all day but cannot get it past 29%

So far I've tried...

Updating the bios and drivers through the SW Update tool. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to get another bios update though?

I've deleted all anti virus and disabled my windows defender in ms config. I've even turned off the firewall.

I've also tried the desktop installer and the iso disc...still no luck.

Any thing else I can try? Thanks

Are there log files called setupact.log file and setuperr.log file in the folder C:\Windows\Panther, or possibly the folder C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther

There might be something in there (especially the setuperr.log) that gives a clue on what's gone wrong?

Also, have you tried doing a Clean Install?

On the downside, before doing a Clean Install, you must make sure you've backed up all your data (because it wipes the disk totally) to another drive and will need to dig out all your software install disks and product keys because you'll have to reinstall everything.

On the upside, a Clean Install is more likely to work in troublesome cases.
