trying to install win7 in uefi mode

hi im new here and not sure if i can join this thread or if should start a new thread so if im in the wrong area please say so. i bought an Acer Aspire One 725-0826 for my girlfriend, it came with windows 8 pre-installed and shes really not liking it. as you probably already know it doesnt come with cd/dvd drive so im trying to install windows 7 ultimate sp1 x64 via usb drive. i've tried several tutorials for both uefi and legacy mode with no luck, legacy mode doesnt detect the sata drive and this is what i get when i try in uefi: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
    To fix the problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
    2. Choose your language settings and click next.
    3. Click "repair your computer"

    file: \efi\microsoft\boot\bcd
    status: 0xc000000d
info: an error occurred while attempting to read to boot configuration data.

i noticed some other people were having this same problem when trying to install win7 in uefi mode but i havent found any solution for it. all the tutorials looked promising at first but this is going on week 3 now and im about ready to give up. so frustrating.
any help would be appreciated, thank you

On some Acer, Gateway, P. Bell, Windows 7 x64 will not install in UEFI mode, you need to use Legacy mode.

Bootable media from previous versions of Windows may not be recognized in Windows 8. You can change the Secure Boot setting and it should recognize the bootable device.

Use the following steps to change Secure Boot:

    1.Completely shut down your computer.
2.Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press Delete to enter the BIOS.
3.Use the right arrow key to select Authentication.
4.With Secure Boot highlighted, press Enter and then the down arrow to select Disabled.
5.Use the right arrow key to select Boot Options.
6.With Launch CSM highlighted, press Enter and use the down arrow to select Always.
    7.Press Enter.
8.Press the F10 key to save changes and restart the system

the acer aspire one 725-0826 has a insydeh20 setup utility which is a bit different from the bios shown in the video but through other tutorials i figured out how to disable secure boot & enable the boot device options. only after making these 2 changes did the bios even recognize my kingston datatraveler but still wouldnt boot from it... instead i got the message that i first posted. thats where i was stuck.
oh and this bios doesn't have a launch CSM option, or if it does i cant find it.

looks like it has one usb 3.0 and thats the one i've made most of my efforts on. i also made several attempts last night using a 2.0 slot with no luck. i really wanted a fresh install of Win7 but it looks like downgrading is my only option. im going to give that a go tonight. thanks for pointing that out, i had no idea.

i followed the the tutorial to downgrade to Win7 but i'm stuck at step (4) with the same error message. forgive me if theres something obvious im missing but i just can't figure it out. the only way i can even get to step (6) of the "downgrade to windows 7 tutorial" is if i boot in legacy mode which is useless because there are no drives detected in the list to install Win7 on. grrr!

Either convert the drive to mbr, or install w7 in uefi mode.

I can't remember if pw free boot disc does loss free gpt>mbr conversion, it is worth a look.

    Seems that it does:

Convert GPT disk to MBR disk with MiniTool Partition Wizard.

    Boot disc download is here:

Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

would you suggest i delete all partitions and convert the entire drive to MRB or should i create a new partition & convert that to MRB?... leaving Win8 incase this doesnt work. im just worried i might be left without any functioning os.

You cant convert a partition - you can only convert the whole HD.

If you use the linked pw boot media, it shouldn't delete anything, it just coverts.

If you are concerned. might be a good idea to make an image first. Free macrium or Aomei will be fine. Unless you have done that already ?
