Solved Clean install with W8 KEY?

So here is the deal. I was able to get a W8 upgrade key for free through school. I am also in the process of building a new PC which I should be assembling sometime next week. I was wondering if it is possible to somehow do a clean install with just a W8 Pro key? I do have W7 home premium 64-bit on this PC (I have the product key) and was thinking I could install a W7 .iso on the new, blank SDD and use my current PCs key to activate and then upgrade to W8, but I have no idea is that is possible. Do I need to somehow deactivate this one or something? What other options do I have? I guess the bottom line is that I need some sort of OS on the new drive in order to upgrade via the key, correct?

Yes, you sure could. You could download a ISO using your product key to create a Windows 8 installation USB/DVD.

Afterwards, you could do a clean install with the Windows 8 USB/DVD.
