Tell me how lucky i am after installing Windows 8.1...

Well took the plunge and installed 8.1 against better judgement, because for the first time i hesitated to do so.

True you have small tiles and medium tiles, but for me the medium tiles should be the large one and the medium should be half of wat is now.

i see the small times compared to medium as 1:4.

with the midmouse click i had apps immediatly, being on the desktop or start menu, that is gone. Now i get search instead.

Yes one can get easy to the apps from the start menu, but since one is STILL ALWAYS redirected to the desktop that is no longer possible. When forced to the desktop, need to go to the Start Menu, then one can click on the Arrow to get to the APPS.......MY GOD....really simple...

I mean you do not have that on the desktop.

I really was convinced that it was possible to "disable" the dekstop or not use it, but this seems impossible.

But if it can be done, please tell me what i do wrong.

So right now i fail to see the bonus 8.1 offers, besides opening file explorer which is better.

Right now Decor8 from Stardock is NOT working, but i will reinstall this to see if that helps.
Modernmix works.

Did reinstall it, but no, so mailed Stardock.

I feel MS could have made a better job then what they did now.


Any thoughts to make me change my mind are appreciated.

i must add, since only today i use IE from the Start Menu, which will replace the Dekstop soon i hope.

What bothers me is: you do not have the Menu Bar, Command Bar, Status Bar.....

So can this be activated or not?

No, there's no Menu Bar, Command Bar options available in modern GUI.

Well it is nice to have small tiles, but one can only have 4 small tiles in the first row, after that it is only 2 small, or sometimes (depends on where you put them) 3 one next to the other.

So Stardock, help please.

Since yesterday Stardock pulled me through the problems i had and now Decor 8 works evenbetter then before.

One has the possibility to change the background in the new START MENU every 10 sec or as an example every 5 min.

But with the new BETA version, the background in the APPS department gets the same background.
