Shouldn't the full version simply over-write the OEM version ?

Welcome to EightForums zacktt.

Is there not a recovery partition? You should be able to enter that using an Fn key at boot.

I'll relate my experience with installing.

Whether installing an upgrade version or a full version I didn't have to do any formatting.

I just put in the cd's & they overwrote what was already on my computer.

I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8 Pro a while back.
I just installed it & it worked fine.

If you need to find your product key run the attached VBS script.
Scan it first for viruses to be safe.

Try David's way first. I agree that you need the key and it's probably UEFI Bios also.

I don't know.

I don't have a setup like yours.
Only 8 Pro on C:\ drive

Someone else will probably pitch in with suggestions before long.

There are "Kings and Queens" of installs on this forum of which will eventually answer, so hang in there.

In the mean time please post a screenshot or snip of your partitions in Disk Management.

PC's that come with Windows 8 preinstalled at the factory have an embedded key. Official Windows 8 install media will auto detect it and install without asking you to input a key. The version that it originally shipped with will be installed. My ASUS laptop came with windows 8 core. When I do a clean install that is what is installed automatically because that is the version that the embedded key is for. To go to 8 Pro I have to enter the Pro key though add features after 8 core is installed. I can then also add Media Center by entering the MC key though the add features option. You don't need to know what your key is as you will never be asked to enter it. It is entered automatically during the install. That's why there is no COA sticker, its not needed. If your PC shipped with * Pro that's what will be installed.
If you are just upgrading from 8 to 8 Pro just enter your 8 Pro key though the add features option.
