Solved Installing over Win7 which already has bitlocker

Hi all,

Forgive me if this has been answered, but i wasn't able to find it ...

Anyways, my machine is running win7 HP with the drive bitlockered, can i just go install win8 straightaway or do i have to decrypt and disable bitlocker first?

Hello mmq, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could format the OS hard drive to remove BitLocker encryption as well, but I would recommend to turn off BitLocker encryption for the OS drive to decrypt it first to avoid any potential issues, then install the other OS. Afterwards, you can encrypt it with BitLocker from Windows 8 again if you like.

If there's nothing on the drive you wanted to keep, then formatting it first will be fine.
