    Install from .iso directly

I thought this was pretty slick. Not sure when it was introduced, but I was able to start the install of 8.1 Preview directly from the downloaded .iso file. Just double clicked on it to open in Windows Explorer then double clicked on setup.exe and off it went. This only works from a booted Windows 8 system (not sure about Windows 7).

Didn't need to create a bootable flash drive or DVD.

I forget where I read about being able to do this, but very nice.

Hi there When you first attach a USB Printer to W8 it will often install as a "USB Printer" but you won't be able to set it as default or use it as such. You need to actually Manually install your USB printer in most cases. Go via Control panel ==>devices and Printers ===> Advanced Printer...
I have used desktop for many years and am used to it. I am sure the tiles thing is better, but I want my desktop. Instead of having the tiles come up and clicking on the desktop, how can I make it just go to the desktop and avoid the tiles. I found something in setup about defaulting to desktop,...
Hello all. I have a question regarding the choice between win 8 and win 8.1. As stated here on 8forums, on October 18th the win 8.1 will be released as final version. Does this mean that i'll be able to download not the win 8.1 preview ISO, but the win 8.1 FINAL ISO? Or i'll still need to run the...
At the moment, the restarting - selecting Seven from boot menu, restart again is a huge PITA. Anyone know of a Win8 based way of Restart directly into seven, essentially skipping the double restart. I prefer the old method of select - boot. Not select - restart, boot.
Anyway to get Win 8 to go directly to the desktop or to the all apps after login in?
I would also like to delete metro in it's entirety or at least as much as possible. Also, I have a dual monitor setup. On is my flatscreen tv, which is hooked up to the computer for home theater. I seem to have a duplicate task bar and icons on the tv, which I most certainly did not have on 7. ...
So I have been suffering from frequent system freezes on my laptop and I don't think that it is able to send the proper debug info to the Windows 8 Dev Team every time it happens. Is there some way that I can contact Microsoft directly (without being charged) to help report the data necessary to...
