Any gotchas to dual boot 8 and 8.1?

I have a 150GB primary partition available on my 1.5GB SATA drive that I want to use to install 8.1 on. I know I will have to download the .iso (which is not available yet) to install from with the key MS provides.

Win 8 is on a 128GB SSD. I want to install 8.1 to the I: drive which is the 3rd partition on the 1.5TB drive.

I have a full Acronis backup of C: D: and E: so if I do screw up I can recovery easily.

Would it be best to disconnect the SSD Win 8 is on before installing 8.1? I want to keep 8 and 8.1 as separate as possible. If so, then when I connect it back up again I would have to add 8.1 to Boot manager I believe.

I installed 8.1 to a hard drive with 8.0 already on it.

I haven't tesated to see the effect on 8.0 yet,.

Will install grub2 and let that handle the multibooting as I have several o/s installed atm.

I'm dual booting 9200 and 9431 with no prob. There are some minor interface bugs in the Preview, but it's stable. I installed it onto a separated partition, so if I want to uninstall I can format it and remove the boot entry. Quite simple ! Go for a dual boot !

I don't have a technet account so I have to wait for the ISOs to be published. Will try it then, thanks.

You could have installed a fresh copy of Windows 8 and upgraded it. Anyways, tomorrow the ISOs will be publically available.

Downloading the iso now. It's going to be painful to boot from a spinner after booting Win 8 from my SSD though.

This happened about two days ago. By going in chronological order: I used to have a dual-boot setup, a Windows 7 and Windows 8 on two different IDE 80GB hard drives, named Drive A and Drive B, respectively. Both of these hard drives are quite old, and I'm worried that it may be near the end of...
