    Multiple Windows Operating System Issue

    Hey gang,

I'm having issues disabling the option to choose which operating system to log into every time I turn on my computer. I previously had windows 7 installed on my primary drive. I had formatted the drive before installing windows 8 but I am still presented with the option to log in to Windows 7 (recovered) before loading to my desktop. I would really like to remove this option.

I have gone through the options to select a default operating system to log in to but even after I select windows 8 and save the settings it still presents me with this choice to log in to windows 8 or 7 (recovered).

Could anyone help me in disabling this or possibly removing the old windows 7 altogether?

    Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for the response. Opened up the msconfig and think there might be a solution there although I haven't tried anything yet.

Looks like I might be able to remove the Windows 7 option from the boot tab in msconfig?

    Thanks again for any advice.

Yes. If it doesn't work, run the elevated command below and attach the file from the desktop
    Code:
    bcdedit /enum all >> %userprofile%\desktop\bcd.txt

O_o Can you clarify the mechanics and benefits of your suggestion? I really don't see any, but I see a risk of running into boot issues.

Can you tell the exact location of the current boot manager files based on the info provided? I can't

The OP is booting from the Windows 7 System Resereved Partition, to the Windows 8 System Reserved Partition, & then to Windows.
By removing the Windows 7 HDD, the Ref: in msconfig will also be removed.
Than the PC will boot from the Windows 8 System Reserved Partition, & then to Windows.

How did you come up with this information based on two screenshots?

I'm not so sure about it, and I still don't see a reason to go into the trouble of physically disconnecting drives when it can be fixed with bcdedit.

Windows boots from the first ACTIVE partition.
The OP's first active partition is the Windows 7 System Reserved Partition.
