Dear All,
I am dual booting Win 8 with Win 7. The 1st time i installed Win 8, the boot manager presented me a nice green background image with the option to boot into the desired OS. Win 8 was set as default. I changed that to Win 7.
Now, after restarting the machine, I am no longer getting that boot image..rather textual version (dos like) with black background is coming :(

Plz let me know how to get back to the earlier green background boot screen.

Thanks,
Troy.

Not sure you can with Seven as the default OS.

Green? I thought it was blue ... mine is. Just like this one from one of Shawn's turorials:

Anyway, when I changed the order to have Win7 the default rather than Win8 8102, I was left with the Win 7 boot screen OS selection.

I did use EasyBCD in Win7 to change the order back but I was still left with the Win7 OS selection screen afterward.

A refresh of Win8 brought it back but I still had to re-customize what I had already customized and reinstall all the programs I had already installed. I Didn't lose any files and a Windows.old folder was created.

You can also try these items before performing a refresh (I wish I had known to try these prior):

Open an elevated comman prompt (run as administrator) and use this bcdedit command:

"bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no" (without quotes)

Alternatively, go to your system properties and follow the arrows below:

Thanks, onlytanmoy, for reporting back. :D

I suspected it might work and I sure I wish I knew about it before I did a refresh to get it back.

Oh well, "live and learn," as they say. :)

Not sure you can with Seven as the default OS.

There are several easy ways to restore the 8 bootloader provided it's the default OS. You still can't keep the boot loader and have another OS as default though.
