move partition over

Need to move partition over, did a minimal image restore with my new laptop. What it does is skip the recovery partition setup. So instead of 4 partitons I have 3. The problem is the first partition is now a 401 mb unallocated partition, the second is the EFI partition, and c: drive is last. When attempting to move unallocated 401 mb to the end of drive, so I can extend it, the program I use, EaseUS partiton does not "see" the first 401 mb and intead shows 0.0 unallocated space. Because of this I cannot resize/move the partition. What other method is there to remedy the situation.

You have all four partition with the Windows Repair tools partition deleted.

The MSR partition hidden in Disk management.

Did you install to clean unpartitioned HDD?

New laptop, I created recovery media on usb flash drive 32 gb. Original factory had all partitions, however I always like to check my recovery media, because you only get one. Don't want to wait until warranty expires and find out media is defective. Anyway when I ran recovery usb I saw something new, an option to do a minimal image restore. Thinking I know it all, I assumed it might be a crapware free image...not so lucky, crapware is still there however it did not install the first and last recovery related partitions. I don't mind, I have recovery media and restore points. Since these partitions are gone I figure why not move the 401 mb partition to the end and extend c: drive. In answer to your question, it was not a clean hdd.

No I did not delete recovery partition. The recovery media I created gave me an option called minimal image restore. When selected it does not create recovery partitions in the first place, that is why I have and empty partition with 401 mb unallocated space.

Anyway see attached pic, I found a program Aomei with a free version, and it allowed me to merge the 401 mb partiion with c: drive.

Not really important to me. As long as I have recovery media and all my data is backed up, then why bother with them.

When you merged the partitions did the smaller one become part of the bigger one or vise versa?

Windows does not boot by drive letter, it boots by DISK # PART # disk/partition when you merge/add/delete partitions you can physically change window's boot location.

If youre having boot issues now, then run the repair option in windows 8 (not reset nor recover)

If that doesnt work you can use a windows 7 repair disk, again repair only

Theres nothing wrong with your MBR or Partition, windows just needs to know where it is thats all..

I just replied to you, so I guess the world did not end :) Actually the unallocated space was merged with the c: drive partition no problems I can see. Now I only have, and need the 2 partitions, efi and c: partition.
