Is there a Win 7 (!) prgm for modifying UEFI Win 8 key?

My notebook has a Win 8 OEM key in UEFI.
After wiping my hard disc I want to install Win 8 retail instead of OEM version.

Because this is not possible with stored OEM Win 8 key I want to boot with a Win 7 BootCD and
patch the UEFI with a Win 8 retail serial key.

For that I need a Program like SLIC which helps me to accomplish this task.

But where do I get this SLIC tool?

is there another way to enter a new Win 8 key into UEFI from Win 7?

Hi there
I think you can disable the UEFI SECURE BOOT - not you don't have to disable the UEFI boot itself. Do this in the computers BIOS.

If this doesn't work then Google around -- each computer might have it's own "Quirks".

I don't think there is a method to do what you want. What difference are you expecting to see between the Windows 8 retail and the OEM version?

Patching the UEFI BIOS with a different key would be very high risk. Microsoft and hardware manufacturers have gone to considerable lengths to make this difficult. This is not something you are supposed to be doing.

Why do you want Retail over OEM? Other than the licensing they are identical and you have already paid for your OEM license with the purchase of the PC. If the OEM is core and the retail is Pro just use the Add features option to upgrade to Pro. The Windows 8 embedded key is not stored in a SLIC BIOS table like it is for Windows 7. You can't change it by flashing your BIOS with a modified BIOS. The embedded key is stored in a section that is not overwritten by a BIOS flash. It made to be as permanent and unalterable as possible. At least that's my understanding. I'm not saying it can't be done but I would class it as a very high risk endeavor that could render your motherboard inoperative. Considering what that SLIC tool you mentioned can be used for I think I'd refrain from talking about such things as it could get you banned.

Ah yes, I can see wanting to do a clean install with retail media instead or a recovery with the OEM media that will load all the bloatware back. Even so, the retail disk will use the Embedded OEM key and still do a clean install. We'll have to wait and see what the OP wants to do and why.
