Perhaps, you had preinstalled Office trial on your PC, and it interferes with the installation.

1. Open Uninstall Programs in the Control Panel and delete Office, if found.
2. Use FixIt for Office 2010 to clean up.
3. Run sfc /scannow in the command prompt. If SFC is unable to fix anything, attached zipped \Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Now install Office 2010 from your CD and post the results. Include zipped setup logs in case of failure.

it happens most of the time that you have installed any trial version of the Microsoft product and at when it gets outdated you tried to install a new version without uninstalling it properly .. your installation trouble may be due to the same..

Thank you. I Used FixIt for Office 2010 to clean up then installed Office 2010. Installation was a success.
I never preinstalled Office trial on my PC. I uninstalled the preinstalled Office trial since I had Office 2010. Before after input the product key, the window to accept never popped up. I belief this was was the problem. The installation hanged at the end so I opened task manager and Clicked on Details, looking for the file msiexec.exe. - Windows Installer. I found four instances of this file running. I Selected each one of the files and right click End Process tree. After ending these three process the installation was a success and activated office
Thank you
