Solved Set up UEFI/Secure Boot on laptop?

I recently learned about UEFI boot and Secure boot when I was downgrading my aunt's Windows 8 laptop to Windows 7, but I like windows 8 and I have it on my ASUS N76VZ laptop (which came with windows 7, so it isn't using or doesn't have UEFI boot or secure boot), and I'm wondering if there is a way for me to set up UEFI and Secure boot on my laptop.

First, there doesn't seem to be an option to set up UEFI boot or Secure boot on this laptop, and I do have the latest bios, but here are some pictures of my BIOS screen and options (if you see the UEFI option there, point it out!):

Main
Advanced
Boot
Security
Save & Exit

Also I was thinking of setting up secure boot but there doesn't seem to be an option for that either?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-Derek

Thank you, my manual doesn't say anything about BIOS though, is there another way I could figure out if my computer supports UEFI boot?

And I have a 64gb flash drive that rufus won't make into a uefi bootable drive, it gets to like 1% and says an unknown command stopped the operation or something like that. It also says "large fat32" instead of just fat32 for the file system, do I need a smaller usb drive?

Edit: Apparently the UEFI boot is just hidden from the BIOS page, it can't be disabled or something, but if there is no UEFI stuff in the computer it will boot legacy, so it sounds like I should be able to do it with this computer... if I could get my stupid USB to work, I have the 64gb and a 1gb, so the 1gb is definitely too small and it seems like the 64gb might be too big.

Sounds about right.

Try Option Two in

You only need a 4gb USB Pen Drive

Oh, I didn't even see option two, I got it working though, I used a 16gb SD card and a SD card reader, I was very surprised that it worked, but it did!

Also, I have windows 7 on my desktop and I'm thinking of re-installing that UEFI, but I only have a disk for it. Is it possible to do a UEFI install with just a disk? It is windows 7 ultimate and I can't find an ISO file on it for rufus to put on a drive.

If you you have the Windows x64 ultimate DVD, & your desktop has a UEFI/BIOS firmware, yes.

Ok thanks, it turns out my desktop doesn't have UEFI firmware, but I tried to install windows x64 on my aunt's computer that I was taking windows 8 off of using UEFI (set the boot mode to UEFI and put the disk in) and it wouldn't load the disk. The first thing I ran into which was weird was secure boot was turned off, but still it would say secure boot failed, so I reset the secure boot parameters, and then it would try to load the disk, but it would freeze at the windows logo, I left it there for half an hour thinking it was just taking long, but it did that like 3 more times so I just left it with legacy boot, she won't know the difference.

I recently learned about UEFI boot and Secure boot when I was downgrading my aunt's Windows 8 laptop to Windows 7,

(Unknown make & model.)

1) Downgrade to Windows 7.
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13326-downgrade-windows-8-windows-7-a.html
Warning you must have the uEFI/BIOS firmware setting in Step Three set.

2) If Using a USB Pendrive on a PC with a uEFI BIOS.
USB Pendrive need to be formated to FAT32 as in
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html
Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.
Also you will need to use a USB 2.0 port, as there are no USB 3.0 drivers in Windows 7.

Thanks, I already finished doing it though, I set it to legacy boot because it wouldn't work with UEFI and my disk, and I don't know how to rip an ISO image off of a disk.

Windows 7 x64 will only install in UEFI mode, when the BIOS is set right.

When I set the bios to UEFI, it wouldn't start the windows x64 dvd properly, it would freeze on the windows 7 icon
