Solved Installation appears stuck before installer interface

I am attempting to install the dev preview onto a spare hdd to dual boot between Win 7 and 8.

I have used the windows store tool to write the iso to a usb drive. I am happy that this is correct (a colleague has used the drive and installed successfully on a different computer).

So far though when I try to install on my computer, it begins loading from the usb drive and I see the "Loading Files" screen and then the Windows Developer Preview screen (with the spinning loading icon at the bottom of the screen).

This is where it appears to be going wrong. The spinning loading icon carries on spinning, but it doesn't go any further than this screen. I watched my colleague install on his computer and this screen was only displayed for a few seconds before going to the installation interface - so far I have left mine installing for 2 hours with no change from that screen.

Has anyone else come across this problem and found a solution for it?

Thanks!!

I have the same problem but no solution yet! I'm attempting to install the 64BIT Windows 8 DP. At first I thought the DVD was burned incorrectly, so i did it again and IMGBURN verified it and still same thing :(

I have 2 drives, on primary HDD 32 bit windows 7 installed. I have a 64bit processor [AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+].

I even tried disconnecting Primary HDD and putting secondary as primary and same thing.

Maybe some setting in the BIOS? Starting to think i need to try the 32bit but don't want to waste another DVD unless i really have to.

If you have 2 physical drives, I suggest you define a primary, active partition on that drive and install into that. That should work. Then you can switch between the 2 systems with the BIOS boot order.

So a partition on the primary drive? The reason i haven't done this is because my primary drive is only 80GB and about 20GB free while my secondary is 500GB with 300GB free.

Guess i'll moving stuff over now.

I have managed to install Windows 8 now. The only thing I had to change to get it working was to disconnect an external RAID hdd (which was connected via e-sata).

My motherboard doesn't have the ability to use AHCI and I didn't have to change any BIOS settings to get everything to work - I would definitely say the issue is related to RAID drives / settings though.

After installing though, booting into Win 7 or 8 with the RAID drive on isn't a problem.

Maybe some setting in the BIOS?

yup most likely ur prob....try switching between AHCI, RAID & IDE

Thanks for that suggestion but my bios has no option for those. I did take out FLoppy as first priority on boot menu. Now its 1. Cd/dvd 2. Primary HDD 3. Secondary HDD 4. Network.

I'm updating my bios now (currently searching if there is one) to see if that'll help.
