    Win 7 on Win8 Laptop

I have an HP G7 2220 us laptop.I cannot figure out how to use Win8, I want to downgrade to Win7.

I have disabled secure boot and in legacy have the usb drive as boot nuber one boot drive.

I had formatted the disc using Rufus to make a GPT usb boot drive and used a digitalrive Win7+SP1(Media Refresh)iso file.

In the UEFI boot at startup(Esc then F9) I can see the USB drive and when I select it and click Enter this is what comes up:

Windows failed to start recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix problem :

1)Insert windows installation disk and restart pc
2)choose langue settings and click next
    3)click repair your pc

How do I go by the installation of Win7.

    Please help.Thanks

    Welcome to EightForums

    1) Downgrade to Windows 7.
Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7
Warning you must have the uEFI/BIOS firmware setting in Step Three set.

    2) If Using a USB Pendrive on a PC with a uEFI BIOS.
USB Pendrive need to be formated to FAT32 as in
UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.
Also you will need to use a USB 2.0 port, as there are no USB 3.0 drivers in Windows 7.

I just read the step 11, trying it right now.Is this what is causing that error that I got?

I did use a USB 2.0 specifically from the start since 3.0 needs drivers and is not natively enabled.

What is CSM and how do I enable it.The post didn't make sense.I have secure boot disabled and legacy support enabled. Is that it?

Instead of downgrading, you could use something like classic shell or start8. It will give you the look and feel of windows 7 but with all the benefits of windows 8, mainly the speed and efficiency of CPU and RAM usage.

    Welcome to Classic Shell

Get the Start menu back with Start8!

The Digital River ISO does not have the file in the right place for use on a USB Pen Drive.

Where do you buy your Windows 7 x64 DVD from?
