I asked a question related to all the issues I had with Win8 pro that I knew would require me to reinstall the system and was told to that what I have to do.

I had issues installing it before and have the id number after it was validated

While reinstalling the system, the drive die. Drive less than a year old.

After installing the system on the new drive, cannot validate the system what do I need to do to get it validated to the validated number I have??

Also, the updates for the system fail and most likely due to not being validated

Never had to rebuilt a window system under 18 months in the past, yet doing 6 months after installing pro. No issues during the beta testing, but whoa with official release.

What is my next step???

What validation number are you referring to? If you are reinstalling to the same PC just use the same product code you used for the original install. You can replace hardware and reinstall over and over again. A motherboard replacement (if its a different model) is about all that would force a phone activation. I've swapped hard drives, video cards etc and had no problems activating online after a re-install, even with an OEM version.

Looking through your system specs I see your using AVG for you AV. Try turning it off and see if you can't get validated and your updates. I have a sneaky suspicion that AVG might be the culprit here.

It said not a validate number when I try to activate it. Its the same number I used to installed it. I had to do a phone activation the last time and the tech had major issues getting it install.

AVG was not installed at the time.

Where did you obtain your copy of Windows 8? Hopefully not E-bay. Did it come with a COA sticker and the proper DVD?

I'm guessing when you did the phone activation the first time, you read the code displayed on your monitor to the operator on the phone and they read you back a validation code to type in. If so that validation code is likely a one time deal, meaning you'll likely have to do it all again instead of trying to reuse the code you got the first time. That being said, if your Windows 8 is legit you shouldn't have to be doing this at all, it should activate online right out of the box.

Bought it from Staples and read the number and type in the number that was on the card that came in the box that was delivery to me.

This is the first OS from 95 to date that has fail to activate without an issues regardless the number of times I reinstalled the other OS overtime.

Ok, it should be a legal copy and you shouldn't be having all these activation problems. If it won't activate online you have no choice but to do the phone activation again. You could PM a moderator and maybe get them to move this thread to the Windows Updates & Activation section. You may get better help on that particular issue there.

After a hour to the help desk, the system is validated.

The key that came with the legal copy was corrupted and I have been given a new number.

The tech has a few issues getting things to work, but I now have a fresh system.

Thanks for the help.
