Installed Windows 8 Pro OEM, got Windows 8 (no Pro)

    Shouldn't the installation process make that point obvious? (IE that I got a different version)?

    The guy bought a disk that should install Win 8 Pro. If it didn't install that shouldn't I be made aware that something else was going on?

    This licencing thing is not very clear.

    Wouldn't a Windows 8 basic (core ) be cheaper ( if money was a consideration?).
    NO, as this is a Pre-installed by the OEM manufacturer, to reinstall the use of the OEM manufacturer DVD will install Windows 8 core & use the key coded in the BIOS.

    Hmm... just walked down the path of SLIC tables in BIOS, Activation 3.0, KSMs, SLIC injectors...

    Some of these things that get added to make certain folk's life easier makes other's more difficult, but that's life as we know it.
