    Restoring windows master boot record

    Hola

I have two hard drives in my computer and I installed Linux on the second one for a dual-boot setup. I'm now going to remove that Linux installation. The problem I have is the grub that linux installed on my Windows drive still comes up when booting up to ask me if I want to load windows or linux. What would be the best way to get rid of that so that just Windows starts up automatically each time?

    Welcome to EightForums.

    Try doing a Automatic Repair.

How to do a Automatic Repair:
Automatic Repair - Run in Windows 8
Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.

If that doesnt help goto your MSCONFIG in windows click the (BOOT) tab
select your windows line then set it as your default.
Then set your timeout to 0 or select (make all boot settings permanant)

Hope this is the easiest way..

I had the same issue too, I was able to fix it by booting into my Windows 8 installation disk, choosing the command line from the Advanced Options menu, and then running the following commands:

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

Then reboot and GRUB should be gone. But if you still want to boot into Linux then it would be wise to find a way to move GRUB first. If you find that you still cant boot into Linux then you can do an emergency repair by booting into the Linux install disc and repairing it from the Live CD.
