Hello,
I'm about to take the plunge and upgrade to Win8.
At present I have WIn7, with my SSD drive containing the OS and progs, and a separate hard drive with my user data on it, I would like to retain all the data on this data drive.
I will do a clean install of Win8 on my SSD drive. After I have done this what is the best way to set up my user data on my hard drive which already contains my user data? Can I just use the reg hack to point to my data drive?
1. Open Registry Editor by type regedit from command line, and navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList.
2. Change the value of the Default, Public, Profile Directory keys to the new location accordingly.
Then I will install my programs.
Will this method then allow my Win8 installation to see all my old desktop and user data? Is there a better way?
Thanks for any input or alternative methods.
