I have a very old system but it works perfectly well as a media centre.
it is a 64bit system but I realised after I upgraded to windows 8 recently that windows 8 installed as a 32 bit operating system. I have been trying to perform a fresh install of windows 8 64bit but there appears to be a problem with my pci-e 2.0 x16 graphics card.
I cannot boot from the windows 8 64 bit dvd to fresh install the operating system with the pci-e 2.0 x 16 graphics card in the system. the system stalled at the initial windows 8 boot logo
I didn't know it was the graphics card initially but read in another forum that there was a problem with the 64 bit bootloader and pci-e 2.0 x16 slot, so i installed an old pci graphics card and the installation went fine - windows 8 64bit up and running - but as soon as i put the original pci-e graphics card back in the pc hangs at the initial boot logo.
was hoping somebody may be able to suggest a fix or am i stuck with windows 8 32bit or windows 7 64 bit - both of which install without problems?
any help appreciated
