Ok, so I downloaded the setup and it starts to run but then it has an error saying it couldn't install the prerequisites and this is the error in the log

Code:
[12C0:12A4][2011-09-17T09:15:05.816-06:00]: MUX: ExecuteError: Package (vsbsln_neu_28) failed: Error: 25541 ErrorMessage: Error 25541.Failed to open XML file C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024786

Can anyone help? I don't want to download the other version of Windows 8 with the tools. I don't have a big enough media to install it.

Do you know if there is a standalone installer? (specially for non-msdn subscriber?) Or is there way to extract just the visual studio 11 installer from the larger .iso?

Thanks,
SD

There is a standalone installer. I don't know how to extract it from the large ISO, I just downloaded mine from BetaArchive.

That installer seems to be hidden inside one of the bundles inside the iso. I tried looking for it. Strangely, MS will provide it for the msdn subscribers, even though it is a free piece of software.

Why not download it from the official MS site?

Windows Developer Downloads

Because they don't have just the VS11 installer, I can't fit the version with VS11 on any of my DVDs or Flash Drives

Hi there
Just download the ISO and mount it as a Virtual drive

Then you can extract anything you like just like a normal DVD.

Windows 8 has built in Mount ISO as a context command in Windows Explorer.
Just right click against the ISO in Windows explorer and you'll see a MOUNT option.

I can't show you the screen since I'm at work and on W7 at the moment which doesn't have this feature.

(Note to Mods -- the Mount ISO in W8 is incredibly useful - especially now some iso's have > 4.7 GB so aren't suitable for normal burning DVD software. Perhaps you could make a note of this for users -- It's not a replacement for things like Daemon tools but if you just need to mount an ISO --works wonders. I'm amazed quite a lot of people don't know about this feature.

Have used on netbooks that don't even HAVE DVD drives).

Cheers
