Re install but keep files. Which tutorial to follow?

    Hi everyone.

I have Windows 8 Pro version and it was the one that just upgraded Windows 7, keeping user accounts, files and everything.

I want to re install it now and keep files still. Doesn't matter if programs are kept or not like how they were kept when upgrading from win7.
Which tutorial should I use to do this? I use to do use one for win7 that would create a windows.old folder. Is there one like that which would work? I liked doing things that way

    Thanks

    Hello Vesh,

You could use the tutorial below to "refresh" Windows 8 for this. Be sure to read what is affected at the top to see if this may meet your needs first though.

    Refresh Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

That looks good. Seems it keeps user accounts as well?

Is there a way to do to the one that makes the windows.old folder? Just I liked that with win7 but the refresh I think should be what I need

Yes, it will keep all user accounts, and will have a Windows.old folder afterwards.

Be warned that all installed 3rd party desktop type programs will be removed during the refresh. Any installed Store apps will remain though.
