My windows 8 pro laptop won't boot

Hi, I joined these forums today, because I was reading about another persons similar problem to mine yesterday on here. From what I understood yesterday, some people were able to get it fixed. Now for me, the problem is I don't have the windows 8 recovery disk, as I downloaded mine, and I don't have a disk drive anyway. I hadn't made a recovery drive on my flash drive, as I didn't know much about it, and didn't really think about it. So I downloaded the windows 8 setup on another pc, ( I got the setup from a link sent to me an email from Microsoft after I brought their upgrade) and then I ran the set up. After running the setup, I chose to install it to a media device, my flash drive. Now when I put it into a my pc, it wouldn't allow me to refresh or auto repair, as it said it was not supported by this OS. I now found out that the reason was because the pc I downloaded on was 32 bit, and the oc I am trying to fix is 64 bit. Therefore, is there any other way to fix this? Is there someway I can download a windows 8 64 bit iso file and put it onto a flash drive?

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to EightForums.

When downloading the upgrade you need to

    information   Information

If you need to download 32bit Windows 8, download from a 32bit PC.
If you need to download 64bit Windows 8, download from a 64bit PC.

    Redownload on a x64 PC.

Yeah, but I don't have an x64 pc available, so is there some way I can download the x64 file instead?

Welcome. Are your files on the computer you want to "fix" backed up sufficiently. If not, then, at this point, I would think that backing up your data would be highest priority--assuming they are not backed up. Some have used an ubuntu LiveCD for data recovery in cases similar to yours.

Assuming your files are backed up sufficiently or you are able to back them up sufficiently, why not reinstall the qualifying software you used when you did your upgrade in the first place. Then, you could download 64 bit the same way your erroneously downloaded 32 bit except using the 64-bit computer you are trying to fix. Then, of course, you could reinstall Windows 8.

For example, if your qualifying software was Windows 7, then see: Clean Install Windows 7 and Clean Install with an Upgrade Windows 7 Version.

    Thanks for you reply
I don't really have back ups of the files, but they are all mainly movies and stuff. Things I can just download again, if wanted. I do not think there is anything important. Now, my windows 7 was preloaded on my laptop, so how do I regain it? And will the Windows 8 set up still work, or do I have to buy it again? Also, is there a way someone I know( who lives across the world) if they can download the set up and run it (if they have the x64) and then send it to me? So basically I want to know if someone can do the setup process, and then send me the files, so that I can put them on my pen drive and use it to fix my comp, leaving the clean install as a last option.

Did you go through the upgrade assistant, etc., to get your upgrade, or was it one you got because you purchased a Win7 machine at the right time? Have you tried contacting your OEM for help on getting your Win7 install back? Even if you regained it, I am not sure if the upgrade to Win8 would work (I've never tried it), but, on the other hand, I don't see why not. P

People have ask for ISO's, ESD files, etc., to be made available to them via email (or whatever) before. And, very few here, if any, apparently are willing to do so. Note that an external DVD probably is available for your model if desired. Check your friends, etc.; maybe one has a 64-bit machine with qualifying software installed.
