Secure boot on or off when installing Win 8 pro x64?

I'm planning to build a new home workstation based on the Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard with Windows installed on a SSD in UEFI mode and data in a Raid1 array.

If one installs windows 8 pro x64 under UEFI on this board, is secure boot enabled by default during installation or does one have to enable it manually in the BIOS/UEFI settings afterwards?

If secure boot is not enabled automatically, does it need to be enabled or disabled during installation?

I cannot find any information about such a setting in the current English user manual of this board.

I know that after installation, one can check in windows if secure boot is enabled by executing the command
"confirm-SecureBootUEFI" in an elevated powershell command prompt.

Basically, can one switch secure boot on and off at will?

Check out Secure Boot - Confirm Enabled or Disabled in Windows 8 (maybe you already know all that's there). I think it is enabled by default on most mobos that support it.

And, see Secure Boot - Enable or Disable in UEFI. You can always enable or disable it.

When you have installed Windows 8 x64 in UEFI mode, best to ENABLE Secure Boot.

As the new ASUS has a UEFI/BIOS firmware.

Enable secureboot while installing Windows 8 x64. if you dont have 64 bit installation media then install with secureboot off.

Many thanks for response. I take it then that one first set secure boot off, then install windows 8 and then turn secure boot on.

By the way, I have an OEM DVD with which to clean install windows 8 pro x64.

You are very welcome. Here is a read that might be of interest to you; Check this read out. Regardless, you could chose to enable or not before installing (don't know what the default might be on the various mobos available for DIY machines). Whether you enable or not, before or after installing, would depend on whether or not you want to use it--which I presume you would unless it caused problems with something else you want to do interfered with other functionality that is more important to you.
