Solved Win8 pro64 (for OEM software) how many reinstalls possible

Hi,

How many times can I install using my purchased Win8 Pro 64 (for OEM software) DVD?

I installed it first as dualboot with Xp then unistalled it using EasyBCD & reformated its partition.

I tried to reinstall it again with same DVD but, after entering the the 5 sets of ID & click on install a notice says remove from drive & reboot to XP.

Any ideas of how to go about reinstalling w8?

I assume you are talking about system builder software installed under the personal use license. One owned machine at a time. Reinstall on as many owned machines as you want one at a time. Reinstall on a single owned machine regardless of how many times, and in what ways, its hardware is changed as many times as you want. Transferrable to another, but you must forego use.

Someone who knows what to do given dual booting with XP will come along. Haven't used XP in so long I will pass on answering.

I am not a professional system builder, I build my own & upgrade it every 2-3 yrs & do more frequent clean reinstalls when the HD gets clogged with rubbish or upgrade the HD.

Does it really mean that I will not be able to "reinstall on my system" with this win8 pro for OEM software DVD?

I was advised in the forums to go for the "pro" type & that's what I ordered from Amazon, & doupt they will take it back.

You should be able to reinstall as often as you like.

That doesn't sound like a product key problem.
Have you tried just applying the image and not bothering with windows setup?

Step 3 = click on INSTALL.
Step 4 = enter KEY.

If you have system builder software installed under the personal-use license, as I mentioned above, you will be able to reinstall. Basically what I envision is creating unallocated space from your old Win8 partition; extending your XP partition to encompass the unallocated space; establishing a new partition based on the expanded XP partition; and reinstalling Win8. But, as implied above, don't take my word on this. There may be an easier way, and I have not used XP in almost forever.

Then deleted the win8 partition using Paragon Part.Manager, then I created another partinion hoping win8 will go in it but, this time it gave no option to choose a partition.

Please note I did not "Uninstall" win 8 just deleted its partition. A search inthe XP registry shows no remnants of Win8.

2. Theog:- I want to do a dual boot install.

Fotos below show what I have done. Entered the key from the dvd envelope, changed partitions (last one I shows empty), the choice I made (NOT the Advanced one) and see the Compatibility report. NOTE that I restarted & retried 3-4 times with same results :-

Dual Booting--XP and Win8: You should choose "Custom" install if you get the chance. I think that you make your choice to install under the personal use license when installing. I have a copy of Win8 system builder but have not installed it yet (and can't get into fooling with it right now). I haven't installed a "system builder" version since Vista. Unless it's because you didn't choose "Custom," I don't know why you don't see the partition you need to install on.

Did you try to create a second primary partition for Win8? Remember, I said don't rely on me on the partitioning thing under XP. See if this XP tutorial helps you straighten things out. You could also look at this dual-boot tutorial (Dual Boot Installation - Windows 8 and Windows 7 or Vista); it may help you sort things out. Note that it does not deal explicitly with XP.

1) Use CUSTOM INSTALL.

2) Windows 8 does not play happy with LOGICAL DRIVES.

If I choose Custom, read the warning in the last foto I sent earlier, it says will delete everything on the HD & install win8.
I do not want to loose all, I want to dualboot.
I will try & change, If I can, the new logical partition "I" I created into PRIMARY, if it is possible to have 2 Primaries on one HD.

If you get that warning, then you are trying to install on the wrong drive. Yes, you can have two primaries.

Thank you, somebody persuaded me to use the second (Advansed) option of install, which let me choose a partition & Win8 is now running.
