Bottom line, unless drive 0 unallocated space 800GB is alone when I get to partitions, my steps above would work.
If it is alone I can then just click next -correct?

Correct, if your hard drive (drive 0) has been completely deleted to have no partitions and shows as "unallocated" with only one "Drive 0" listed, then you could just select "Drive 0" and click on Next.

    Hello S
Sorry to keep you so busy with this task but I am a literal reader and tend to confuse directions.

    I appreciate your assistance.

I'm not sure what you don't understand about the directions since it's just confirming what you asked is correct, but please explain what you don't understand, and we'll be happy to help.

    no problem

    Hello S
I was just saying that I over read some articles and make more of it than I should.
I now understand what is going on with installation.
I know I certainly took up enough time.
I am looking for the Kudos or Thanks but cannot see it. I did "rate" the thread; is that appropriate?
I clicked the thumbs up but it said I must spread some information before doing it again?
Also, would it be a good idea to remove old attachments to make room for new ones?

I think there is some confusion here.

If UEFI install is being done then there are more than 2 partitions. You have your System_Reserved partition, your OS partition, Windows RE, and the MSR. Only 2 are visible. The Reserved System and your OS partition.

If you create your disk using diskpart and install, then there are is 1 partition for a non UEFI install and 3 for a UEFI install. When you use diskpart to configure the disk you can get rid of the system recovery partition and just rock the OS partition, did it with W7 often...
But here are how they default layouts should look for general knowledge...

No problem Peter. We prefer to have you ask questions until you are comfortable with it.

You would want to leave your attachments so the post will continue to make sense for others that may read it later.

Please let us know how it went.

    attachments and installation

    Hello
First, it is very good of you to allow those less skilled to reach the conclusion of their inquiry. My learning folder is satisfied with installation knowledge.
Secondly, you caught me just in time as I was about to delete the attachments. I am sure I will be notified if there is need for more room.
    Thank you
