Hi!

I'm very mucht interested in Win8 and hope I can make my home forum of this one shortly...

My question:

Will it be possible to upgrade from windows 7 or do you have to install a new version?

Grtz,

Martin

Personally though, I prefer to do a clean install to avoid any potential unknown issue related with a upgrade.

I also dont have luck with updates

If you don't want to reinstall any of your programs, then, do a install upgrade, that will keep all your settings.

Only a fresh install is possible at this time. (Developer Preview Build) Of course when it RTM's a year from now, upgrade from Win7will be an option

Yes, there ware three ISO's released - one was an x64 build with all the dev tool included and this did not allow upgrade, the other two were standard x86 and x64 builds and this do allow upgrade.

Well that is the developer build I am running and talking about. It is a clean install only. You said they had standard builds that would upgrade Win7?

They do and I did.

Note that you can only use the upgrade option if you run the setup from within your existing windows installation and not from a boot from the iso.

Hello Luka, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The pre release versions of Windows 8 are no longer available for download from Microsoft since Windows 8 is available for retail sale now.

Instead, you will need to either purchase Windows 8, or you could give the 90-day evaluation of Windows 8 Enterprise a spin.

Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation

Hope this helps, :)
