ASSISTANCE NEEDED! I can't boot off of OS (C drive)

Today, I restarted my computer because it was acting funny. And I know this would probably be more toward Windows 7, but I am able to use Windows 8 Pro that I have dual booted with. Before I could boot off my Windows 8 Disc, I got a error saying that BOOTMGR is missing. So I installed on a separate partition windows 8. So now I have Windows 8 on my W: Drive. Now I don't get the Boot Options from Windows 8 or 7. What should I do!? And by the way, I can still access all my files and stuff like that, but I don't have programs such as Word or anything that I need for school. Anybody up to taking this challenge?

[UPDATE: I noticed that there is no Boot file listed in the (in this case D: ) C: Drive. Again anyone up for the challenge? ]

Please post a full screen image of Disk Management.

To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen.

Vista and Windows 7: How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista - Vista Forums (says it's for Vista but also works with Win 7).

Once you have the image saved, start a reply here then click the Go Advanced button.
Click on the Paperclip Icon next to the Smiley Icon. In the Manage Attachments window, click Browse and navigate to where you saved the image and select it.
    Click the Upload button.
    Close the Manage Attachments window.
Click on the Paperclip Icon again and select the image you uploaded. It will be placed in your post.

Welcome to EightForums, Michaelvas17. Let's see if we can get your machine straightened out. I dual boot with 7 as well.

Give me a minute to post my Disk Management to compare. You'll see it's basically the same. In the mean time please read this: Dual Boot Installation - Windows 8 and Windows 7 or Vista

    I'll be back.

Like Windows 7, Windows 8 uses a boot manager (bootmgr.dll) which consults with the BCD (in Boot folder) to locate the boot loader (winload.exe). Bootmgr.dll is a hidden system file and it is in your case located in the root directory of D:\, which is marked active. You will have to select "Show hidden files" in folder options. Remember to revert back if desired.

Open File Explorer (WinKey/E) and tap on your D: drive. You should see bootmgr there.

Ok HypsieGypsie, Now I am in D:\ but where would I go to locate Bootmgr.dll? I do see however a "bootsqm.dat".

To dual boot with Windows 8 upgrade, you will need two Windows 7 licences.

You can do a clean install, but you need to delete the Windows 7 install.
