Yeah, because so far, at 1:03 PM Central, I still haven't heard anything from them. Sigh . . .
I went to Paragon and tried to log in, but didn't have a password, so I clicked send password and nothing happened again. Luckily, I have more than one email addy, so I used another one that's strictly for VIP stuff to register again, and this time within seconds I had the product key and serial number.

Now I'm waiting for Patch Tuesday to complete so I can try to save MyBook.

    Wish me luck . . .

Download the Paragon free try Rescue kit:
Rescue Kit Free Edition | PARAGON Software Group - free partition software, hard disk partitioning
    Try the undelete partition option.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I've burned this thing at least four times and all I can ever get is a list of files, none of which are executables except for cd_plg.exe, which tells me it's the wrong version. I clicked on the downloaded rk_free.exe file entered the product key and serial number when requested (cutting and pasting as directed) all to no avail. When I click on the DVD, I just get the listing . . . I'm ready to scream but it would scare my husband half to death . . .

    Progress Report: Sort of . . .

What I see when I boot from the Paragon Rescue Disk and click on Undelete:

Basic HDD 0 (Samsung HD 103SI)-932 GB
    E:NTFS Windows 8
Basic Hard Disk 1 NTFS MyBook
Basic Hard Disk 0 Model N /Type/File System/Size (this one is blank)
    [checkbox] Change File System Filter
Help Back Search (grayed out) Cancel

When the Undelete Partition didn't work, I started to poke around and looked at the File Transfer Wizard. There, I figured out how to transfer my files from MyBook to another hard drive. (I plugged in and formatted the "old" single boot Windows 8 hard drive which turned into New Volume G\

So, now, I have my files back, which was the main goal here. Yay! But I don't think I'm through yet.

The rest of the story is pretty mundane but important to me . . .

I am successful at booting into Windows 8 and I'm able to still see and use New Volume G:. I haven't booted into Windows 7 yet, and I don't know if I want to. I'm afraid of the same thing that happened to Juzio in his Dual Boot Problem thread.

There is (working from a bad memory here) are several other options on the Rescue Disk, but I'm unsure of which to try, or if I should try anything else at this time.

My WD MyBook is still inoperable, and I would like to use it if possible.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Glad to hear about "now, I have my files back, which was the main goal here. Yay! But I don't think I'm through yet."

Hopefully, someone better informed than me will show up.

<hehehe> Yeah, although I can figure some things out, at this stage of the game, I don't want to make any more mistakes.

I keep remembering back when I said, "My WD MyBook is hooked to my Windows 8 dual boot system and working fine." Although it was true at the time, I'm still flabbergasted that this happened at all.

I don't want to make an accusation against Microsoft, but for the life of me, I cannot figure how this could happen. Especially when things were working fine at the outset, and then went south just because I swapped out a drive. It just don't compute.

    1) Physically remove the HDD from the My WD MyBook, & refit to another caddy to test.
    2) Try formating the My WD MyBook.
