Dual boot problem

I have setup my computer with four separate hard drives. two of the drives are installed permanently inside my machine and are use as a data drives. For booting I use two separate disks in a drawer, one with windows 8 and other with windows 7. Booting my machine with win 8 doesn't create any problems, win 8 boots and behave normally. The problem starts when I swap boot disk from win 8 to win 7. Windows 7 boots, but immediately starts repairing my two data disks. Is there solution for this problem?

thanks.

or
To by-pass hybrid shutdown, you can do a command-line shutdown

When you shutdown Windows 8, Windows 8 will do a hybrid shutdown.

Base of
4A) Closes all open windows & Apps.
4B) Copies all ram info to the HDD.
4C) Turns off the hardware.
4D) When restarted Windows 8 will do a hybrid boot, & picks up right from where you shutdown.

By-passing hybrid shutdown, Windows 7 will not scan the Data Hdd.

He may understand, but I don't. I have Windows 8 installed on one hard drive and Windows 7 installed on another. Each hard drive has its own programs . . . I have Office 2010 installed on each drive, browsers on each drive, etc. I also have a Western Digital MyBook which stores my data.

When I'm in Windows 8, the Windows 7 hard drive isn't plugged in and vice versa . . . My data drive is pretty much the same as Juzio's; the data is available to both drives.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what "data drive" means. To me, it means the files created by MS Word, Excel, PaperPort 14, etc., etc.

As I see it, Juzio's not dual booting; instead, he's probably using a mobile rack and swapping drives when he wants to use Win 7 or Win 8.

And now I have a major problem after successfully installing Windows 8 on my Windows 7 hard drive for a dual boot system.

Once the new system was set up, I wanted to install my programs to 8, so I unhooked the dual boot drive and hooked up the single boot Windows 8 drive so that I could figure out which Product Key I'd used for installing Office 2010. I have my WD MyBook hooked to the USB port of the computer and everything was working fine there until I did this.

I guess Windows 8 did a number on the MyBook, because I'm told the directory or data is corrupt and the hard drive is unavailable.

For me, this is a disaster! The data on that drive is irreplaceable, and I don't know how to fix things.

Help, please!!!

No, I didn't even know what it was (and still don't) until I got into these forums. However, having said that, while I was in the BIOS, I did notice UEFI. I thought my mobo was just a tad old for that, since I'd never heard of it.

I wish I could help you. If what happened to you happened to me, then I would think very conservatively. I would not fool with the MyBook period until someone with great expertise helped me. theog's "the man"--or at least one of the men. I hope he comes back to this thread to help. You might even seek help from a data recovery specialist. Here's my problem. Anyone could come along here and say do this, that, or the other--and, if done, then the nail in your coffin might end up more deeply sunk.

Thanks anyway, and no, I'm not going to do anything until someone a lot smarter than I looks in. I may need to post in a new thread, and will tomorrow if theog misses this one. Usually, it's frowned on to hijack someone else's thread, but since Juzio was more or less through with it, I thought it might get seen.

Yep, there are several very smart cookies in here, and I hope one of them has an answer for me. I think it's something to do with that hybrid whatever. :(
