    Error upgrading win7 to win8

When I run setup I get this message:
    "Something happened
We can't tell if your PC is ready to continue installing windows 8. Try restarting setup"
    What can I do?

    Welcome to EightForums.

Have you treid a clean install?
You will need to reinstall all your programs in Windows 8.

(Windows 8 Setup checks that your PC meets all system requirements before it installs Windows 8.)

Have your product key handy. You can find it in your online order information, in the confirmation email for your purchase, or on the packaging. The product key will look something like this:
    XXXXX- XXXXX- XXXXX- XXXXX- XXXXX

Make a backup of everything you want to keep. Save it somewhere you can get to it later, like an external drive or a DVD.

Always better to do a clean install.

No, I didn't try a clean install as I would like to save all my installed programs.
Do you think there's no solution besides a clean install?

Did you run the upgrade assistant? If so, did it identify any significant problems you might encounter in upgrade installing. You can still run it to see if it provides you with any useful info.
