I have an Asus P5QL VM DO montherboard in my homemade PC. This is an older system that I use for testing, so I put my Windows 8 install on it. Unfortunately, the Asus driver installation CD will not run in Win 8, and I am missing one driver which I am unable to locate anywhere. It is for the PCI Simpe Communications Controller.

Note after searching this forum I found that I could download the driver for the Intel Management Engine Interface for my mobo from Asus. I used the Win 7 64 version.

The first thing you do after getting a new mobo is to throw away that cd with drivers and software. This goes for every hardware.
Always download the new updated drivers directly from Asus <--- this in your case.

What i do is create a folder on my back up hdd with all the drivers for my hardware, just in case i don't have internet connection and i need them after a fresh install of windows.

Thanks for that tip. I have always reused the CD's instead of doing what you suggest. I've had some instances of failures due to driver problems and doing as you say would most likely have avoided this.
