Cant install Windows with Gainward display adapter GT430

    Hi

I tried a clean install on my system which has a Gainward GT430 (nVidia GT430) 1GB display adapter.
What happens is that soon after booting from the DVD the display becomes corrupted (blurred and difficult to read) and I can only barely make on what's on the screen and proceed with the installation.

After the point where I format my drive, windows looks like its installing but after the reboot the display goes to sleep, and I have to start over.

On the same system installing Windows 7 had no issues whatsoever. Installed fine with nearly all the drivers available natively to windows.

I was installing Windows 8 64 bit using original media. Any useful ideas would be helpful!

    Welcome to EightForums.

Try with the onboard video, also with a VGA Monitor.

I tried with the onboard VGA slot and a normal monitor, still the same issue. It starts of OK, and then when you get to the first prompt regarding language it becomes hard to read after that point.

System is AMD Athlon 64bit 4000+
    Motherboard Abit KV8
    2GB RAM
    Gainward GT 430 display adapter

Strangely the windows 8 pre-upgrade check says that I'm good to go

    Any ideas anyone?

Did you run the upgrade assistant before trying your install? Assuming your system still is functional, you can run it now to see if any helpful info is provided.

Yes, sorry that's what I meant by pre-upgrade check. It didnt find any problems and said I could proceed with the installation.

Are you using a desktop computer? You could try installing after disabling the adapter to see what happens--maybe bad resolution, but at least you'd be installed. You could go from there, perhaps, to a different adapter. Of course, you might end up with problems if you try your existing adapter again.
