Hi guys,

I have an ASUS U32VJ laptop (Complete USB 3.0 ports - no 2.0, i5 3210, HD4000+GT365M, 4GB RAM).

I want to install Windows 7 64bit for now and just leave W8 in a partition I will not look at.
So i partition off the data drive ASUS left for me and give a fat 200GB+ for a Windows 7.

I get the following when I try to boot from via EFI menu and even through the BIOS to go EFI from USB:

boot.JPG

Not sure what information you great people will require but here is the disk management view of the hard disk:

DiskManagement.jpg

and further below, printscreens of bootx64.efi location and the cmd commands:
bootx64.jpg
cmd.jpg

Could this problem be caused due to having a 2.0 USB stick in USB 3.0? There aren't any USB 2.0s on this machine unfortunately (never thought i would say that :O )?

Thank you all in advance,

Dan

Partition will need to NTFS.

Using a USB Pendrive on a PC with a uEFI BIOS.
USB Pendrive need to be formated to FAT32 as in
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html
Take note of Step 11 for Windows 7.

If using a USB 3.0 port, you will also need to slipstream in the USB 3.0 drivers in to the ISO, using the APP in this tutorial:
Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File - Windows 7 Forums

You can install Windows 7 x64 in dual boot first or second.

Follow Step one to five in this tutorial:

I got the same problem, I wanted to install win 7 after win 8 in UEFI mode and I got the same error but when I tried to change the mod to legacy the flash disk boot normally also I tried to put the windows in a DVD disk but the computer does not recognize the disk as UEFI, and I'm very sure about the steps how to make the UEFI bootable flash disk.
any help please?

Hi there
It could be something as simple as this

Is Windows itself on a GPT disk. Windows 7 X-86 will not (AFAIK) allow the BOOT disk to be GPT (although it can recognize and handle GPT drives provided they aren't the boot drive). X-64 may be possible but there do seem to be problems with it.

Your UEFI Windows disk on W8 could well be defined as a GPT disk -- then AFAIK you'll have to convert it back to MBR for Windows 7 if you really can't get it to work.

Please folks check this first but I'm 100% sure I read about the limitation with W7 and GPT disks somewhere. - Note this is a separate issue to EUFI. I know X-86 is not supported -- x-64 ?? though.

You might get more info from this thread

Anyone here booting Windows 7 x64 with native UEFI and GPT disk?

Cheers
jimbo

Thank you for the replies guys...
and indeed I have SSD hard disk with GPT and sorry I did not get your point about converting MBR and how it's done? also is that mean I will lose windows 8? because I want to make dual boot?
and thanks again for your help.

Have you set the uEFI/BIOS firmware, as in the tutorial in post 2?

I FIXED IT!

Well it had nothing to do with needing drivers or slipstreaming and all that rubbish, I was trying to boot, I couldnt even get to the install stage for crying out loud! Although I did need my USB 3.0 drivers when Windows booted and asked for them (problem solved there :D).

I looked in my BIOS, USB legacy was enabled etc. One thing I still did not try was this option: Launch CSM (it mention something with older BIOS or boot manager or something...)
I enabled this option, stuck in my Windows 7 EFI USB stick, and voila, up poops 'Windows files are loading...'

Did it work?
Yes?
Because I am writing this on my brand new freshly installed Windows 7 OS on my Asus U32VJ. None of that crap of W8.

Thank for suggestion etc.
