Trouble installing Windows 8

Hello,

Today I tried to install Windows 8, but the installer froze at 0 percent on the "getting files ready" step. Anyone know what could be causing this?

EDIT: I have a Thinkpad Edge E430 if that helps.

I ran Upgrade advisor before installing Windows 8. The only things it said were incompatible was some preloaded software.

So I got Windows 8 installed, but it ran extremely slowly, and the next time I booted up the computer, it just went to a screen that said that windows could not start, then it said "diagnosing system" and then "attempting repairs", where it has just been hanging for a while.
