Solved Formatting Windows 8?

Hey,

I bought an Acer Aspire V3-571G brand new a few weeks ago and I'm sending it back for a refund. I'm currently having problems with formatting it and wondered if someone could point me in the right direction. I need to remove all my personal information from the laptop but Windows 8 was pre-installed with no recovery disks in the box. When I try to format the main drive it says I can't because thats where Windows 8 is installed and running from. Any ideas please :)?

This is my view from Disk Management:

I might be wrong but if you go to PC Settings Click the General Tab on the left hand side you should see a menu item called 'Remove everything and reinstall Windows' This 'should' erase your files and reset the PC to factory status, I don't know whether this applies to OEM Pc's or not but it might be worth looking at. Am sure some other members with more experience of this might be able to offer alternative options.
Kindest regards
Ricky

Your computer store or wherever you bought the computer would be very upset if you deleted the system files and it may void your warranty. Only uninstall the applications you installed and personal files. Use a program such as Eraser, a free program, to delete your sensitive data.

You are very welcome, though I would still check Temp files etc just in case once it has done.
@Nucci That was going to be my other advice (well similar program) but it's more time consuming than just letting Windows reset itself but each to their own.
What made you decide to send your Acer back if you don't mind me asking ?
Kindest regards
Ricky

I've checked everything and its all clean thanks for the advice.

I'm sending it back because the spec of the laptop was different to what was advertised. I noticed straight away but needed to use the laptop for work and had to wait for them to get back in touch with me in regards to my options available. Was hoping they'd refund me a decent amount of money or something along those lines but sending it back for a full refund is the better option for me :). It was a nice laptop just the screen and build quality were very disappointing.

Regards,

Matt

Glad I could help I love my Acer (a bargain at £200 think they were close to a grand brand new!). Had problems with the graphics to begin with, it's no good for any new games but for just about anything pre 2010 seems to be fine even Left4Dead online !
Think I'll go back to an old school desktop at some point as it's impossible to upgrade an all in one apart from memory (or so I believe). I hate laptops with a passion and tablets even more so but thats just my opinion !
Good luck with your next purchase.

Kindest regards

Ricky
