I had an extensive search and can’t find a solution to my specific problem…here’s my story:
I have Windows 7 Ultimate, with the OS installed on C: (128Gb Crucial M4 SSD) and all my user data on D: (500Gb hard disk). The laptop is Dell Xps17 with i7 cpu, 8Gb ram.
I have availed myself of the £15 upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, and downloaded the iso (as copied this to DVD).
I have run the Upgrade Assistant – and it advises me that most of the applications are fine with the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.
I NEED to keep all my installed applications so an UPGRADE is my only realistic option. I have far too many programs and configurations, which would take me many days to rebuild (personal cloud, wifi cameras, Adobe Photoshop, Outlook, Office, etc….)
However, on initiating the UPGRADE is only allows the option to “KEEP NOTHING”…if I then proceed to the next step it requires me to rename C:\Users (but this can’t be changed as it’s in use).
Thus, can anyone help me through this situation?
Regards
ANDREW
