    scanning and repairing drive

    Hi
I Have just managed to use raw copy to copy a corrupted hard drive on to a partition on my laptop. I then converted it successfully onto a separate partition.

After shutting down my laptop I tried to use it later on and found that it wouldnt boot up fully. The message says scanning and repairing drive 36%. one hour later it still displayed the same screen. I can only assume that it is the raw partition causing this. I am using windows 8 pro, not the upgrade. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Hi thanks for the reply. I am completely new to this. Once I'd used Raw copy software to copy the old corrupted hard drive onto partition (H) on my laptop I threw the old one away. I then installed easeus on to partition (C). I managed to successfully convert the source raw partition (H) and save it on partition (C). Everything was there, brill piece of kit, I thought I'd lost it forever. I then shut down my computer. Later on I turned on my computer and it wouldnt boot fully, it froze with a message saying "scanning and repairing hard drive 36%". I think the (H) partition being RAW is the reason for this. Is there a way of bypassing windows and formatting this partition to NTFS so windows will start normally.
    Thanks

Did you a use a fully supported Windows 8 version?

Is there a way of bypassing windows and formatting
Yes, but you will lose all DATA.

You could try Paragon free try Rescue kit:

yes, easeus pro. I have converted the RAW drive (H) onto drive (C) so I am more than happy to lose all the data on drive (H).
    thanks

You can use Disk Management or Easeus Pro to format the H partition.
Once it's formatted you won't be able to get any data from it, some recovery tools may work but not guaranteed.

Thanks for the reply Dave. The problem I have is that windows wont boot u. It stays on the scanning and repairing screen and freezes up once it reaches 36%. I left it for 1 hour and it was still on 36% with the circular thing still spinning round like it was still trying to repair the drive but not getting very far. I really need to bypass this screen. Is there a way of bypassing check disk on start up so I can run disk management and format the RAW partition that I think is causing this problem. Thanks

Your Easeus Pro should have a CD or USB memory stick version. Boot from that and delete/format the H partition.
See if your OS will boot.

When you boot your system, when check disk comes up it should give you a choice to run it or not.

I downloaded the trial version and bought the key after the trial. Trouble is I downloaded and installed it on to the (C) partition on the laptop. I could download it again and dump it on cd. I'm not sure if the laptop would boot from that. There also doesnt appear to be a message as Ive seen with all other windows versions saying press F2 or whatever to get into the bios to alter my boot to cd
    Thanks again.
