How to reinstall to C: while keeping programs on D:

I'm running a Win 8 Pro x64 box, with Windows on C: and most of my Applications on D:

Is there any way to reinstall windows to C: without breaking my programs on D: ? I mean, a lot of the stuff will still work without any special tricks, but the things with hundreds of hard to find registry entries concern me.

Could I possibly reinstall to C: then run a repair installation for all the programs that reside on D:?

    Thanks

    Smith

You need to reinstall programs, some may be OK with a repair.

I Thought I read somewhere that the upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8 would not require you to reinstall all your programs. That doesn't sound like the normal course of events but it would be very nice if true. I'd be happy if that were just true for upgrading from the Win 8 Release Preview since that is...
