Upgrade with clean install

Okay. So I installed Windows 8 Pro from a clean install and tried to use an Upgrade license key.
As I have read here this will not work. But, the fix listed in the tutorial section in this board
did not work, either.

Was the fix for someone who had already activated it from a Windows 7 Upgrade (Install 8 over 7)
and now wants to install Windows 8 from a clean install??

I have another computer I want to install Windows 8 with an upgrade license. It currently has Windows
7. If I run the upgrade of 8 over 7, it should then activate? But then if I install 8 from a clean install
afterwards, will I avoid the problem where it won't activate?

Just trying to figure this out...

Yup. I installed Windows 8 Pro from
a USB Key (downloaded the ISO when
I bought the license key).

I put in the license key duriing the installation and
it after the installation it said" Product ID Not Available".
in the system properties.

I used step 6 by downloading the batch file.
I ran as administrator.

The box shown in Step 6 part E) showed up and
I restarted my Windows. When it came back up
all on its own it said "Your Winows Needs to be Activated"
and took me to a screen to put in the key.

I put in the same key as I did on the install. Then
it gave an error saying the key was not valid.

In that case, use step 5 to refresh Windows 8 to have it activate instead.
