I upgraded from Win 7 to 8 after making a backup (using Windows backup) in Win 7. I elected to do a clean install and formatted my C drive. After the upgrade I wanted to restore back my documents which I did using the "Windows 7 file recovery" option in Windows 8 control panel.
This worked fine for the standard folders - "My Documents", "My Pictures" etc. What is missing is other directories which had been created under my user account, for example "C:\Users\Adam\Java" and "C:\Users\Adam\Virtual machines".
Seems I am missing all directories which I created under my user directory. They must be on the system image - is there any way to get them as they can not be seen under the recovery menu?
Hope this makes sense.
