You need to do the clean install on the Windows 7 HD Drive.

To use Windows 7, delete Windows 8, & reinstall Windows 7.

Therefore breaking Eula rules .
By not deleting Windows 7 first.

i think u might of meant breaking, and i also think u are wrong the eula says i cant use both copies simultaneously but i assumed 7 had to be present when installing 8 or i would of left unplugged this the only time 8 could of infected 7

now can we stop with the Eula rules and concentrate on the real issue here i never used both copies together and in fact plan on buying win 8 but as yet Microsoft are not selling a full copy

so if u can help please help if not don't

I don't follow your first post.

had windows 8 pro upgrade installed from clean boot, but unplugged that hard drive

So win 7 is on a separate HD?

hoping to use my previous windows instalation but am met with this recovery screen each time i log on?

Log on or boot up ? Are you getting that while trying boot win7 on the other HD?

using win 7 i press f9 to get win 7?

No idea what that means - is F9 some kind of oem scan code specific to your machine , and what is F9 supposed to do?
