Remove dual boot and move Win 8 partition

Hi,
This is probably a sill question but here goes!
I have one hard drive with three partitions;
C: Primary with Win 7 - original boot partition.
D: Extended partition with Win 8 installed dual booting with Win 7.
E: Primary with just data in.

I would like to move the Win 8 into the C: partition where Win 7 is and have a single Win 8 system.

There is nothing in the C: partition that I need. However I am hoping to keep all the installed programs that are in the D: Win 8 partition.

I understand that when Win 8 is installed as dual boot it rights to the original boot file of the original boot partition, in my case partition C: So, I assume a straight clone of the Win 8 partition would not work?

Any help would be greatly received,
many thanks in advance,
Martin

Thanks theog for your quick reply.
I have looked at the tutorial.
I don't have a System Reserved Partition, I assume that needs to be at the start of the disk?
If I can create one what goes in it?

Are you serious?

I expect if you had a freshly installed win7 system you would be surprised at just how good it is.

Thanks theog.
As I have some work on at the moment that I can't afford to loose I think I will leave things as they are for now and when the work is finished reformate the drive and start from scratch, shame as I've got the Win 8 system just as I want it.
Thanks again for you help and advice,
Martin
