    All tiles are gone

Today, after installing the latest upgrades, I was given wellcome by a completely purple start screen (which is not even the color combination I choose) with no tiles: nothing, except the violet backgroung and the "start" logo in the corner.
All the tiles and the Metro apps are gone.
Using CTRL+ALT+CANC I'm able to get to the classic desktop, and I can even summon the charm bar, but when I try to run a metro app, even the Settings one, nothing happens.

I'm using an original copy of Windows 8 PRO 64 bit with all the available upgrades installed.

I really don't know what to do

    Welcome to EightForums, melampo.

Let's see if there are corrupted or missing files first. You may want to run https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html a few times. It's a new fix feature in 8.

I'm doing it right now. I'll let you know when it will be finished.
    Btw, thanks a lot

    Here's the response.
    After the reboot, nothing changed.

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.2.9200]
    (c) 2012 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.

    C:\Windows\system32>

You're welcome. I assume you ran it once? If so, please run it again. It did fix corrupted files. We'll see if it does more.

This is short of a refresh in which in that process one loses some programs. How far are you into installation so far as other loaded programs?

Also, I'm assuming by upgrades you mean updates? Many are having problems with those.

Now it says that it din't find any integrity violations. I really don't know if it is a good thing or a bad one.

Talking about the programs, I did have like 4 metro apps I downloaded plus some desktop programs like Photoshop and Lightroom.
I've been using that computer for 3 weeks, it would be a shame for me to lose all of my software and files.

Yes, forgive me for my really bad english

No need to apologize. I understand completely.

OK, good on the Scannow. Do all the updates in your Windows Update list show as installed OK? We can assume that one of these updates corrupted a setting since the Scannow fixed corrupted files. Wouldn't you agree? If so, we need to find a common update that may be doing this to other users. Trouble is that when we do a search on the word "update" we get a lot of posts to read through. Let's do a search to see what we can find. Please let me know on the condition of the updates list. I'll be back....

Since when is sfc/scannow a new feature?

Obviously using system restore would be an option here.
System Restore - How to Do in Windows 8

Although having a system image handy from say a week ago would really come in handy right now.

After restoring, going through each update one at a time might help determine which one is causing the issue.

Here's a list of all the updates I've downloaded since the OS installation.

The last updates are the ones dated 22 december.
I can try to remove all the recent ones, maybe it would help.

System Restore - How to Do in Windows 8
No way, one of the first thing I do when I install Windows is to deactivate System Restore. It takes way too much space in my HD, even if sometimes it is helpful.
I'm blaming myself for this right now.

And I don't have an ISO of my system, sorry.
