shim64_bcbfhb.dll error

Hello guys,

I did a search on both Windows 7 and 8 forum, but came empty handed.

I just installed Windows 8 Pro over Windows 7 Ultimate and I get a dll error message that comes and goes continously.

I disabled all services through msconfig and was able to figure out that it is one of Microsoft's Corporation services. They have a lot so I will need to spend a couple hours booting and rebooting.

Anybody knows what service requires the : shim64_bcbfhb.dll file.

It's not a Windows 7 or Windows 8 file that I can find so it must belong to software you have installed.

Is the error message that the file can't be found or something else?

Yes, that the file cannot be found.

I'm actually done going through all the services, first by small group and then as I got closer, one by one. And the boot service that causes this error message is "svcboot_zbgach", whatever that does. I did a web search, but no joy.

Sounds like possible malware to me. Might want to go to the Virus, Spyware, Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.

Come back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems.
